Boracay Island - Philippines Travel

Located 345 kilometers south of Manila in Aklan province is the world renowned island of Boracay. Two principal gateways namely Caticlan and Kalibo Airport provides air access going to the island from Manila or Cebu.

Indeed, the Island of Boracay is a paradise. It is wide and stretches on for kilometers and boasts of its white sand. It is located at the northern tip of another Visayan island, Panay. Boracay stretches seven kilometers in length and one kilometer in width.

Three little communities comprise the whole island of Boracay : The northern community of Yapak, Balabag in the is the central community, and Manoc-Manoc comprises the southern community. The communities of Yapak and Manoc-Manoc is characterized by hilly elevations measuring 100 meters above sea level.
In 1990, Boracay has been adjudged by the BMW Tropical Beach Handbook as one of the world’s best beaches. The island was awarded as the world’s number one tropical beach by The British Publication TV Quick in December 21, 1996.

The famous White Beach is just one of the more than 30 beaches and coves in Boracay Island. White Beach is so-called because of the four-kilometer stretch of pure white sand beach. Accommodation poses no problem because of its 350 beach resorts and more than 2000 rooms. Pricing category is varied and accommodation is suited for all types.

Selecting the type of food to eat is not a worry because Boracay is also famous for its various selection of restaurants which caters to different foods from the native to fine dining. There are also bars, beer joints and discos with wonderful lights and sounds that operates until the wee hours of the morning. Aside from White Beach, there are also other available options to enjoy the island namely watersports, beach volleyball, diving, snorkeling, mountain biking, hiking, trekking or simple lazing around. Boracay island is famous for its white puka shells, considered the world’s best. These shells were dug out and sold. Property developers like Ayala Land, Fil Estate and Primetown Property are expected to initiate some activity in 205 hectares of the land. Resorts and extravagant housing are expected to be built together with a golf course that is already under construction. Aside from the native delicacies, other international cuisines cater to the international flavor of its visitors. There are also a variety of fruit shakes.
